This is a beginning to intermediate one-day workshop. After completing this workshop you will be able to:
  • Discuss the three-phase model of trauma treatment and the rationale for its use with individuals experiencing traumatic stress reactions.
  • Demonstrate competency with implementing four empirically supported skills to restore balance to the mind and body when an individual's trauma response is activated.
  • Identify three empirically supported relational variables found to support resilience and healthy outcomes in trauma recovery that you can use in your practice and with care teams.
  • Explain the rationale for trauma-informed care based on the client’s stage in the three-phase model.
The materials in this course are informed by best-practices including skills from Seeking Safety and the Trauma Resilience Model, Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies, and Psychodynamic Practices. The workshop material will equip clinicians, providers, community support workers, and case managers to have a basic understanding of trauma and its effects, how to assess those effects, restore balance, and provide trauma-informed care.
