Ongoing technical assistance is available for those who want to instill an EBP in their organization.
As many executive directors/supervisors and programs know by experience, sending staff to a training alone does not necessarily implant fidelity to a particular model. Having oversight and consultation often does.
We have developed methods that will provide ongoing feedback to your supervisors and/or staff that can prove very beneficial for supervisors to learn how to supervise the following modalities:
Community Reinforcement Approach and supervision counterpart
Community Reinforcement and Family Training and supervision counterpart
Motivational Interviewing and supervision counterpart
Examples of how we have worked with others:
1. Train their supervisors in how to supervise in a model.
2. Work with the supervisors alone.
3. Work side-by-side with the supervisors while they supervise staff.
We have done this process by:
1. Telephone
2. Visually/virtually using computers
3. Periodically visiting the program.
4. Listening to recorded sessions*
Technical Assistance for Grants
We have years of history helping organizations with grants when fidelity measures are important. At times we travel to meet face to face with the organization. There are other times when we have done a teleconferencing session. Sometimes it is just following up through taped sessions.
*Utilizing Taped Sessions
One of the best ways to check fidelity to a model is to listen to recorded sessions between the therapist and client. This is a common way to actually "see" what is happening in the session. Feedback is given during a group session or individually. We have found through experience that clinicians often are skittish about having their tapes reviewed. One of the ways we have found around this is to have the clinicians bring in a part of a session where they have done something that went well, and would like to share it with the group. It is not long before they then bring in parts of the session where they were stumped, or need direction regarding that particular model.
We have in our earlier days used cassette tapes for the medium. However, we have a much better and safer way to now transfer therapist/client sessions for review. Please contact us for more details.
Taped sessions are not just for the clinicians/clients review. We also have worked with supervisors when they are learning supervision. They can actually record the supervision session and we give feedback from the supervision angle.
