The Role of Peers in Medical Settings Utilizing SBIRT
This training is for CPSWs only
Would you be interested in working in a medical setting? CPSWs are now being sought after in a variety of medical settings. These locations are very interested in hiring experienced CPSWs who also are familiar with SBIRT (Screening, Brief Treatment and Referral to Treatment.)
SBIRT’s aim is to integrate Behavioral Health into medical facilities, utilizing evidence-based practice. Patients, who participate, are given the SBIRT Healthy Lifestyle Questionnaire (HLQ) which is used to assess for low to moderate, potential risky Alcohol and other drugs (AOD) use, anxiety, depression and trauma. CPSWs provide (HLQ) information to patients who score positive and address, educate, and assist in referrals to an appropriate level of care.
CPSWs are a proven integral part of NM SBIRT. Persons with lived experience are uniquely able to engage patients in a mutually collaborative process to assess patients’ needs and coordinate with medical staff and/or therapists to better assist patients in improving patients’ quality of life.
This webinar will cover what SBIRT is, a brief history of the NM SBIRT design and approved screening tool, implementation, successful results and, practical information and experiences from a frontline CPSW who worked within an SBIRT certified clinic.
